does anyone faces issues with cross dumping a database from a newer ASE Version like SP122 or ASE16 to SP110 or older?

The following statement i tried:

dump database xyz to 'xyz' at xyz

go

and got this error message:

WARNING: In order to LOAD the xyz database, the ASE must run in single-user mode. If the xyz database dump uses multiple volumes, you must execute sp_volchanged on another ASE at LOAD time in order to signal volume changes.

Despite the error message i can log on with isql to the remote backup server or can execute statements like remote_bs...sp_who. Also the opposite direction to dump a database works without any issues.

Please let me know if somebody knows a workaround for that problem.

If i delete/truncate the alert log in sybase will it be automatically created?

Also let me know how to create a false alert in sybase database so that it gets captured in sybase alert log.

When i try to login to "isql -Usa -SSBD , after Password.

Error : CT-LIBRARY error: ct_connect(): directory service layer: internal directory control layer. error: Requested server name not found.

After this , i tried to unlock SA user, "isql -Usasso -SSBD after Password :  error is same !

Error :  CT-LIBRARY error: ct_connect(): directory service layer: internal directory control layer. error: Requested server name not found.

Remote Desktop : 192.168.xxxx - User : Sybsbd

What could be the problem ?

Dear Team,

We are facing a issue with PRD server.

For last 20 days we restarted the PRD server for 3 times.

1)We restarted the server for TMS issue which is advised by SAP support team in one incident.

2)Another time we restarted the server for the issue in Procedure cache problem in DB which is also advised by SAP support team in another incident.

3)today server is restarted due to VMWare (physical server) problem.

Now i have one doubt how frequently we can restart the server and is there any future issues with this restarting of server.

Please give suggestions on this because this is very critical to us.

We have a problem when we try to connect to a SyBase DB (Adaptive Server Enterprise/15.7.0/EBF 20953 SMP ESD#4.2), the database is in suspect mode.

We ran the following commands after rebooting but the same error appears:

Where is PC Client for ASE?

Starting with SAP ASE 16.0 there is NO longer a PC -Client for Windows.

Instead you will get the SAP SDK (Software Devlopers Kit) for ASE and then pick the Windows platform.

I executed  sclhostcontrol to upgrade 15.7.0.101 to 15.7.0.122 according to 1982469, Uprade failed with  error see the attched file.

Now when I'm trying to log on with

isql -U -P -S -X.

I'm getting the error ASE is terminating the process. There is a TDS state machine error. All illegal tds token sequence was received

The export with conversion to unicode completed successfully.  The import stopped toward the end as user DDIC password was not correct. Now we are trying to login to the system so that we can fix user DDIC. When we try to login via SAPGUI we get error DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_UNKNOWN occured. P1=ABAP-gen.

Hi all,

on linix (SLES SP02) I see a lot of entries in /var/log/messages:

 su: (to sybsid) root on none

The entry occurs quit frequent - around 70 times per minute.

Any ideas which process triggers the su?

What tried so far:-

1. implement collective note 0001558958 SYB: DBA Cockpit Correction Collection SAP Basis 7.02 / 7.30

2. SAPSA is working fine. Checked both from sapgui-> dbacockpit-> switch gui-> select system-> test-> connection established-

3. isql -Usapsa -PXXXXX -SSID is also working fine.

What is the best way to move ASE Version 12.5.3 Database from AIX 5.5 to ASE Version 16 on Windows Server 2008? Database is under 4GB so not a huge task. I would like to know the safest way to move this over.

I'm sure this has been answered before, but I could not find the solution, I apologise for asking again.
